Walnut Cottage is situated in the heart of the attractive village of Snettisham, a very convenient location a couple of miles from the coast and a renowned RSPB nature reserve.  Within a five minute stroll from the cottage you can sample Norfolk’s famous fish and chips, enjoy homemade, locally-sourced food at The Old Bank bistro, pick up the morning papers, fresh croissants and other provisions at the well-stocked, modern Co-op and pay a visit to The Rose & Crown, consistently rated by The Good Pub Guide as one of the best pubs in the UK, with its excellent restaurant, traditional ales and welcoming bars (no designated driver needed). It’s also dog friendly and has a children’s play area outside in the sunny, walled garden.

There's a farmer’s market held on the second Friday of each month and the village cricket green and impressive church are at the end of the road. Younger guests will love Snettisham Farm Park with its deer safaris, lamb feeding and trails to explore (and a lovely coffee shop).

Walnut Cottage lies 5 miles from the Sandringham Estate, which offers excellent walks, landscaped gardens and grounds and an annual flower festival.

A few minutes in the car will also take you to the traditional seaside resort of Hunstanton and the charming coastal villages of Thornham, Brancaster and Burnham Overy Staithe.  From the North West corner round to Holkham you can enjoy vast, unspoiled sandy beaches under expansive Norfolk skies.

There's an abundant choice of excellent gastro pubs (mostly dog-friendly ones), restaurants, cafes and fresh seafood huts, using locally-sourced ingredients.  Walnut Cottage is also a convenient base from which to enjoy the renowned RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh, historic country houses and gardens, seal trips and a working steam railway.  Burnham Market, with its diverse collection of independent shops, is within easy reach. (See the Eat & Drink section for more details and recommendations).
